The city of Lake Forest, CA is home to the Etnies Lake Forest Skatepark. This park is run by the city and was primarily funded through donations from Etnies shoes. Recently, with a planned expansion to the park, the city council recently voted to ban pegs, citing concerns about wear and tear.

Gilroy, CA has produced a number of famous pro BMX riders, including X-games champions Chad Kagy, Joey Garcia and Ryan Nyquist. Despite this, the city still does not offer dedicated public facilities for BMX.
